The main goal of AAL at present is to stage an annual conference, the first of which, ‘Literature and Sensation’, was held at the University of Western Sydney (Parramatta Campus) July 12-13 2007.

• The second annual conference was held in 2008 and followed the theme of 'Literature and History'.
• The third annual conference was held in 2009 and was entitled 'Literature and Politics'.
• The fourth annual conference was held in July 2010 and was entitled 'Literature and Science'.
• The fifth annual conference was held in July 2011 and was entitled 'Literature and Translation'
• The sixth annual conference was held in July 2012 and was entitled 'Literature and Censorship'
• The next conference will be held in July 2013 at UNSW and will focus on Modern Soundscapes
